Create Online Courses

There is a huge demand for knowledge around the computer science industry. Due to the fact that more and more things are done by computers, the demand for learning programming languages will keep increasing. Apart from that, every coder who needs to know more about programming will search online for acquiring knowledge.
There are many platforms, such are Udemy or Coursera which you can use to sell your courses and help people by sharing your insights and your experience with them.

Develop Apps

Most people seriously over-estimate the skillset that is required to build an application. You don’t need extensive programming skills thanks to certain software. Swift and Objective-C, enables you to create basic iOS apps in just a few hours.

Think of an app that would be useful to the users and will solve their problems. You can easily make money by developing the app and selling it on the App Store or Play Store (if it is an Android app).
There are also some options of automatic coding apps such as PhoneGap, Appcelerator or Apache Cordova which can help you build your application in just few minutes, but it is recommended to build it by your own as trial and error will make you better in coding.

Be a Freelance Programmer

Freelancing is a noteworthy option for programmers interested in earning additional income while employed or thinking of starting a full-time business in the future. Due to the extensive demand for programmers around the world, there are a lot of coding tasks that required to be done even remotely.

There are freelancing websites such as Upwork, Fiverr or Freelancer that you can start making offers to jobs and coding tasks. Be very careful not to mislead potential clients about your level of expertise, and don’t take on too many jobs at once — this would lead to a low quality of deliverables. Be sure to ask for feedback and recommendations at the end of every successful job from the clients. This is the only way to grow your portfolio, your ratings, and your client base.

Join Coding Contests

There are three different categories of competition areas; design, data science, and development. Many coding competitions take place all year and they provide significant prizes to the winners.

The biggest contest and most popular one is Topcoder, with over 1 million members. Coding contests are recommended as they combine learning and having fun at the same time. The most difficult challenges offer prizes around $10,000 which are an attractive amount for anyone who wants to challenge his knowledge.

Some contests also may provide you a full-time job as there are many clients’ eyes around who pursue talented developers to join their enterprises. If you want to test your knowledge and search for new challenges then Coding Contests are the best option for your personal development.
