What are the documents required for GST Registration?

The following documents are required for GST Registration:

What is TRN in GST Registration?

TRN stands for Temporary Reference Number. You can check the application you saved for registration using the TRN.

To track the application using TRN, go to GST common portal>> Services >> Registration >> New Registration >> Select TRN >> Enter captcha >> PROCEED >> Enter OTP received on the mobile number of Authorized Signatory. You can edit the application using this TRN before submission and even when the department receives the query before granting the registration.

What is ARN in GST Registration?

ARN stands for Application Reference Number. You can check the status of your submitted application for GST Registration using ARN. ARN is generated once you have applied successfully. At present, ARN is generated after successfully verifying the Aadhaar number if opted.

To track application status using ARN, go to GST common portal>>Services>>Registration>> Track Application Status >>Enter ARN >>Enter captcha>> PROCEED.

How do I do Aadhaar authentication in GST registration?

To opt for Aadhaar Authentication while registering under GST, select “Yes” for Aadhaar Authentication while filing the GST Registration application.

An authentication link will be shared on the registered mobile numbers and e-mail IDs (as given in registration on GST Portal) of the Primary Authorized Signatory (‘PAS’) and to (only one) Promoter/ Partner, as selected in the registration application, at the time of filing. The persons whose names are selected for Aadhaar Authentication can check their email and mobile for Aadhaar Authentication link.

They need to click on the link for Aadhaar authentication. When they click the link, a new window will open up where the person concerned needs to enter his/her Aadhaar number. On clicking validate, OTP will be sent to their mobile number/ email linked with the Aadhaar. The person concerned needs to enter the OTP in the box displayed and submit the same for authentication.

Once it gets successfully validated, a success message will be displayed on Portal and ARN will be generated.

In case the validation fails, a failure message will be displayed on the Portal. Once this activity is completed, the link will expire.

You need to verify your Aadhaar details within 15 days of the generation of the TRN or else the Aadhaar authentication link will expire. After such expiry, ARN for Registration Application will be generated and your Registration application will be marked for mandatory site visit and approval thereafter by the Tax Official.

Conclusion

In summary, GST registration involves submitting specific documents based on your business structure and completing the process through TRN and ARN tracking.

Aadhaar authentication is a crucial step, requiring prompt action to avoid delays. By ensuring all documents are in order and following the steps carefully, businesses can achieve a smooth and successful GST registration.
