Only few children can openly wind through the gruesome help of their life from childhood well into adult life; rape, incest, severe beating, molestation, mental anguish — all from the hands of the person(s) who are supposed to protect them against those.
The Team Advocate of Airtelchangeyourstory2017 class B, in this report seeks to unearth why a seemingly culture of silence has prevailed and how it could be reversed in line with measures to restore the survivors’ human dignity and societal care.

How Many Children In Nigeria Have been sexually Abused?
• 1 in 10 children experience sexual violence before age 18
• 1 in 8 children experience unwanted sexual touching.
• 1 in 9 children experience unwanted completed sex.
• 70.5% of victimized children experience multiple incidents of sexual abuse.
• Before the age of 13, 1 in 5 children experience sexual violence.
Who are the perpetrators?
· 1 in 13 children is being abused by a family member
· 1 in 8 children is being abused by a stranger
· 1 in 7 children is being abused by a neighbour
· Adults that are at least 5 years older abuse 70.2% of children
