Ahhhh, capitalism by stealth.

Yeah, that lemonade stand. The problem is there are so many local regulations in areas like that, mostly having to do with food safety, or permits. Some of these regulations are so obscure that people don’t find out until after the fact.

Plus many communities have homeowners associations. They have their own community rules. They can ding you on the most nitpickiest details. And if you live in said community, you’re forced to pay the fees. No exceptions. Woe betide you if you fall behind on the fees because you lost your job or some other unexpected turns in life. Some of which can border on the absurd. I hate hate hate hate homeowners association. Someday we’re going to get five acres (enough land for a good garden and to ensure privacy), fence it all off and do whatever the heck we want on our own property.
