There is no Israel Folau and the side is missing that X factor, so it’ll be interesting to see what Cheika does, whether he takes the punt on Quade Cooper, who has been pretty good in the Super Rugby this season. The other wildcard for the coach is bringing in James O’Conner, who returns to Australian Rugby after a stint overseas and from all reports, he has grown up and matured given a few years ago he made the headlines not for his footy but for what he did off the field. The Wallabies have every chance of winning the Championship again, but don’t look for every exciting match involving Wallabies Free to Air in Australia.
New Zealand All Blacks
The All Blacks probably aren’t as invincible as they were a few years ago, but they are still clearly the best side in world Rugby and go into this, the Bledisloe Cup and indeed the World Cup as overwhelming favourites. Steve Hansen has picked a strong 39 man squad for the Rugby Championship and it’ll be interesting to see how he manages the team given several players will have played in the Super Rugby Final and will more than likely be bruised and battered, so team management will be critical, especially when they take on South Africa and Australia later on in the Championship.
