Airbnb and the Promise of the Spare Bedroom

UBER drivers make minimum wage in some cases, after deducting car expenses, while taking on all the risk if there’s an accident. Cloud sourcing depresses the pay scale of thousands of different kinds of professionals. And Airbnb gets rich, the hotel industry gets hurt, and the hosts take on all the hassle and risk to make some extra income that is taxed. (Remember, no one taxes the money your roommates pay toward rent.)

Maybe people are waking up to the scam dressed up as the sharing or gig economy.
