When the debacle of the 2000 election occurred, I asked conservative friends if they really didn’t want to know the real result of the election. Back in my younger, more innocent days, I thought I was idealistic to have wanted the truth regardless of whether my guy won. I still believed that our country was strong enough to recover from Reagan.
After seeing what happened to the country after 2000, I don’t think we can survive another Republican President. Balance and objectivity are luxuries enjoyed by responsible, sane societies and what I’ve seen during the primaries doesn’t give me much faith in the voters of this country.
