You already wrote about his early decision to back same sex marriage, even if it cost him an election, but here are some of Dean’s 2004 positions:

Health: Universal Health Care

Education: $10K per year in federal aid for university or high-skills learning (at a time when tuition at UCLA cost $7,500)

Taxes: repeal all the Bush tax cuts and replace them with tax cuts on the middle class

Foriegn Policy: opposition to the Iraq War

Corporate power: proposed to break up the big media companies because they exert too much control over the way the news is reported.

No other politician has had the guts or the foresight to attack the information cancer that has been killing this country since the 2000 election.

Not Bernie. Not Elizabeth. Nobody.

I watched Dean give the greatest speech I’ve ever heard on CSPAN before the Iowa caucuses. His ability to reduce complex issues to a level anyone could understand made me feel he would have been a great president.

After Dean made his comments about breaking up giant media corporations, the mass media crucified him.

Do you even know that the whole “Dean Scream” was the result of a special mic that filtered out the crowd noise?

Dean was too great a threat to corporate media and they created a narrative and then played the Scream 600 times the day after it happened.

Only one retraction was made by ABC.

That doesn’t sound like a centrist to me.
