So do yourself a favour and figure out what your margins are if you want to sell anything online (or anywhere really). Not a general, generic, broad view of finances. I’m talking about a down-to-the-cent calculation. Exactly what percentage are you making in net profit per product? You don’t know? Goodluck.

Incredibly true — and amazing — how many ecomm startups, and several year old companies, do not have a handle on this info. Without this, your chances of success drop dramatically. Your competitors chances go up significantly. There is a reason for second mover advantage — they can see what you are doing wrong, and margins aren’t that hard if you are in the same product space.
