UC Berkeley is known for having some of the best boba spots on any college campus. If you haven’t stopped by any of the boba shops in Berkeley, you’re definitely missing out. Here are a few recommendations to get you started.

1. Asha Tea House

Asha Tea House is the perfect boba spot to go to if you want an aesthetically pleasing cafe with a minimalist, Asian design. They are known for their artisan, hand-made milk tea, including matcha green tea boba and fruit teas. This boba spot is located in Downtown Berkeley, about a 15 minute walk from the main campus.

2. Plentea

Plentea is a great boba spot for any type of fruit teas you want, or even smoothies with boba! They’re a small shop on Telegraph and Durant on the main Berkeley campus. They also offer the option to put your boba drink in a pretty, glass bottle for you to take home! If you bring back the glass bottle the next time you come for a drink, they give you 10% off your purchase! They also sell snacks like pork buns here.

3. U-Cha

U-Cha is another great boba shop near Downtown Berkeley. Known as one of the most Taiwanese authentic boba spots just on the corner, they have great service, and great food. They also have popular drinks that include shaved ice and Bomberman.

4. Boba Ninja

Boba Ninja is located in what Berkeley students call, “The Asian Ghetto”. This area is filled with many different Asian cuisine restaurants nearby, including this boba shop. This small boba shop may seem quaint, but they offer very fast service and great food. Definitely a place to stop by if you’re having late night cravings, as they are one of the few boba shops on campus that close at 2 AM.

5. Yifang Taiwan Tea

Yifang Taiwan Tea is renowned on Berkeley’s campus for their fruit teas. They make their fruit teas authentically from fruits and even include full pieces of fruits in their drinks. They also have a great brown sugar milk tea. There may be a line at this boba shop, but it’s definitely worth the wait.
