One thing not brought up here, what happens after the individual is hired and the bias is right there in the office? When that individual is treated as an “outsider”? When their ideas are shrugged off because they are deemed less valuable? … just curious since I have been a female in the tech industry for going on 7 years and I seem to catch these articles always hinging on removing bias from the hiring process but how do we train a workforce to understand how to genuinely be more empathetic and understanding of cultural differences and value them, learn from them, and create better solutions through engaging with them.
Every single member of the team should be valued and managers, HR personnel, and peers should actually find a way to make sure those voices are hard because to me, that is how you get a more creative solution and a fresh perspective on a product.
