If Biden loses the election, I hope Democrats shut up

I apologize for the provocative title. But this is something that’s been on my heart a long time, and I need to say it.

When I say “a long time,” I mean when I was fifteen, when Donald Trump was first elected. When my parents still identified as conservatives, and I was young enough that I still wasn’t quite sure what my political affiliation was.

One lunchtime during freshman year of high school, one of my old friends announced that she was going to see Hillary Clinton, who was stopping by in our town. (My friend’s mom is a state representative, so that’s how she heard that this was happening.) Unfortunately, I made a pretty dumb misogynistic comment about Hillary and told her that my mom was thinking of voting for Trump. My friend (understandably) turned icy, and perhaps that was the moment that broke our “friendship.”

Did I deserve this? Maybe. Probably. I’m disappointed with the past version of myself. But, to be completely honest, I’m even more disappointed in Democrats. I know (and knew) a lot of Democrats; I grew up surrounded by wealthy liberal people at my school and church. They’re well-educated, smart people.

So I continue to be baffled by how they approach politics, because it should be obvious by now that IT’S REALLY, REALLY NOT WORKING.
