How To Change Discord Emojis In Name Back To Emojis

Have you copied and pasted a discord text with emojis only to discover the emoji came out in name?

Then you're on the right page, I'll show you the simple trick on how to change the emoji in name back to emoji and how to correctly copy and paste discord emojis

Let's use this 🎉emoji for example

On discord, the name of this emoji is 'tada'

To turn 'tada' back to 🎉 you need to type

tada in between : and : (two semicolons)

(check the attached picture to see how it works)

Discord Emoji List

Discord has a long list of different emojis and some are names with more than one word

Let's take this emoji🍴 for example

On discord, it is named "fork and knife"

If you try the above technique ( ie :fork and knife:) for emojis named with multiple words it won't work

The reason is for the emoji in name to turn back to an emoji there has to be no space between them

To accomplish we would need to use underscore (_)

Then fork and knife back to emoji becomes

Fork_and_knife in between : and : (two semicolons)

and just like that, you have your emoji back

Do note that the emoji in the name will have to turn blue for it to change back to emoji

(check the picture attached)

How To Change Discord Emoji In Name Back To Emoji From A Sent Message

You already know how the converting trick works

To apply it to a sent message, simply

  • long-press the sent message
  • A list of options will pop
  • Locate and tap on the edit icon
  • Your message will pop in the typing space, above your keyboard
  • Then you can look for those emojis in name to add semicolons and semicolons with underscores where applicable

When you are done, hit the send button

and

Voila!! It turns back to emojis

To correctly copy and paste emojis on discord, add semicolons to the front and back of it before sending

That way it won't appear in the name format but in the emoji format

Now, go turn those names back to emojis with this simple trick.
