I disagree. I think it just furthers the cycle of rich getting richer and poor getting poorer. I’ve worked in very poor schools, and I’ve had parents working their asses off at work, at home, and often even volunteering at school, but they don’t have any extra money to donate. Jeez louise, of course society can’t replace parent if we actively refuse to support education. Maybe let’s just try making schools fully and equivalently funded and then see how things shake out? I for one would love to stop spending a huge part of my paycheck on basic school supplies.
