People connecting

Homophily is basically where people who have the same interests and socioback-grounds, and share some common interests can relate in a relatively small group of people.

In this blog I am trying to give an idea of why people who have some common interests like a same national background can gather together or form groups and share their common interests and ideas.

Homophily refers to the tendency for people to have positive ties with people who are similar to themselves in socially significant ways. The term itself (due to Lazarsfeld) specifically refers to an internal preference. (analytictech.com).

So, Homophily is basically the essence of how people gather with common likenesses with each other, and enjoy these common shared interests.

Homophilous relationships may develop as a result of structural proximity, as a result of structural proximity, or as a consequence of individual preference. (Kwon HE., misc.umn.edu/wise/2014_Papers/4.pdf). So in contrast, the development of homophily is a direct result of people who have “love of the same thing” and through this concept share in social groups these interests, and develop relationships in this way, through same things such as gender, age, or nationality.
