Reading this I am reminded of Ron Johnson’s “The Psychopath Test”, where it was mentioned that psychiatric wards were meant to kept people in and it was extremely hard to get out of them even if you acted perfectly fine. Every little transgression would be marked down as a severe symptom of illness, and even acquiescence would be described as “superficial glibness”.
