The Getty Center in Brentwood, Los Angeles County CA, where art comes alive. The center was designed by an architect named Richard Meier.

The Getty Center is where they house a popular museum in Los Angeles county known as the Getty Museum, and part of the Getty Trust. This California based museum’s located in the neighborhood of Brentwood, near Westwood. The museum has been around since 1997, and is still one of the most famous trademarks in Los Angeles. It’s renowned for its marvelous architecture, gardens, breathtaking view of the city, and of course the historic art that is featured there.

This museum is part of another museum in Pacific Palisades Los Angeles known as the Getty Villa. Both museums together are the J. Paul Getty Museum. The Getty Center specially cost 1.3 billion dollars to create, and brings in about 1.3 million visitors every year. The center was designed by an architect named Richard Meier. He created the center with provisions in regards to fires, and earthquakes as well.

The well known southern California museum houses different styles of art, and a multitude of art collections. The Center branch of the Museum features pre-20th-century European paintings, drawings, illuminated manuscripts, sculpture, and decorative arts; and 19th- and 20th-century American, Asian, and European photographs. In addition, the Museum’s collection at the Center includes outdoor sculpture displayed on terraces and in gardens and the large Central Garden designed by Robert Irwin. Among the artworks on display is the Vincent Van Gogh painting Irises.

The Getty Center was placed in an area management felt was accessible to the people of Los Angeles, CA. The museum is located at the top of a hill, and sits on a property of a campus of 24 acres (9.7 ha) on a 110-acre (45 ha) site in the Santa Monica Mountains above Interstate 405, surrounded by 600 acres (240 ha) kept in a natural state. To get to the actual museum someone would have to take the three car cable pulled hovertrain funicular. Parking and the visitor entrance is located at the bottom of the hill.
