Topanga State Park is strategically situated in the beautiful canyons and cliffs of the renowned Santa Monica Mountains. It essentially features about 36 miles of trails that go through live oaks, the open grassland and provides gorgeous views of the Pacific Ocean. The whole park is neatly located within the city limits of Los Angeles. Tonga State Park is considered to be the largest wildland in the globe that is within a major city’s boundaries. Park trails
These trails can be easily accessed from the Trippet Ranch. There is the Musch Trail that leads to the Musch Trail Camp on the north. There is the Eagle Junction which is just 2 miles from the famous Eagle Spring loop trail. The Eagle Rock (among several boulder outcrops) provides tourists with panoramic views of the Tonga State Park as it looms over the terrain. The Temescal Fire Road and the Hub Junction are situated on the eastern side of the Great Eagle Spring.

The north side of the park unravels the unpaved Mulholland Drive that hikers access through the chaparral. The wild canyons together with oak riparian forests and sycamore are found to the south side of Temescal Fire Road. Rogers Junction, avails to hikers the Backbone Trail, this winds all the way through Mountains of Santa Monica from the east point (Will Rogers State Historic Park) to the west point (Mugu State Park). Furthermore, the Rustic Canyon can be viewed from the Backbone Trail.

The Santa Ynez Trail provides hikers with a view of the crumbly sandstone formations that contains pockets. These pockets can hold moisture and also supports several small plants which form small cliff gardens. There is a lovely waterfall at the bottom of the trail.
