Dude, what are you talking about? Elite rim protection’s not a buzz word. That’s been highly valued for almost as long as there’s been a league. And are we sure that Nerlens is truly elite? There were plenty of big dudes ahead of him in every stat measuring rim protection last year. Is he max contract elite? I mean the Clippers were shopping DeAndre Jordan for the seventh pick this summer and that dude is elite. Nerlens’ max would be more than DeAndre’s currently earning.

Sure, switching ability’s become more important than ever and Nerlens should be good at that in principle but we’ve not really seen him properly tested on that yet because he’s not played for a good team yet. Is he capable of effortlessly switching assignments whilst the defense is in rotation like the Warriors can do? I mean, probably, but who the fuck knows?

Anyway I wasn’t talking about his defensive ability. Rim-running’s not hard to find. If you’re a big athletic dude you should be able to do it. Nerlens game has improved on the offensive end, but not enough that he offers anything much on the offensive end more than a number of big dudes who can be picked up for a fuck of a lot more than the max.

I mean, what are we talking about here? The market’s speaking.
