I wish Mexico and the States would grow some balls and petition to be part of Conmebol, much like Australia successfully petitioned to become part of the AFC rather than play endless meaningless games in the Oceania group.

You know how America gets better? By being on an endless cycle of tough qualifying for the World Cup/regularly featuring as a non-guest in one of the three most important international competitions every four years.

Playing very good teams in matches that genuinely matter is how a player and a team learns how to improve. And wouldn’t it be more satisfying as a fan to play and host amazing games for two years, probably qualifying for approximately every other World Cup - I fully believe the US could do this in Conmebol and maybe better in future years; particularly if it chose Denver as its home ground for qualifying games - than overwhelmingly play minnows in qualifying every time and be asked to take a massive step up at the World Cup?
