This is one of the biggest problems in basketball as a whole.

Basketball’s a rhythm game. Referees should absolutely not be making calls on minor incidents when it’s hard to determine exactly what happened during that incident even over a couple of replays. And yet they do, repeatedly, in every NBA game you ever watch.

There’s an old truism in soccer: if you haven’t thought about the referee he’s having a good game. When do you ever not notice the referees in basketball?
