Let’s be honest, this decision will impact the rest of your life, and will define you as a person.

With this morning’s pre-order of the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro, Apple fans are once again trying to answer a critical question. ‘What color iPhone do I choose?’ If you’re reading this, you’ve already decided to buy the iPhone 12 Pro, but you’re now forced to select Silver, Graphite, Gold, or newcomer Pacific Blue. Let’s quickly cycle through the bunch.

Silver

With its matte-glass backing, the 12 Pro Silver is really more of a silvery-white than traditional Silver. Silvite? Whilver? Sorry.

From the stock Apple photos above, it appears that the finish has barely changed. If anything, the color has moved a bit further towards white than silver, but it’s extremely similar to the Pro 11.

Keep in mind that this year the rounded edges have been flattened out, and the new flat edge is made of high-shine stainless steel. On the Silver version in particular, the metallic mirrored finish seems to reflect a ton of light.

Graphite / Space Grey

Graphite supersedes the aging Space Grey of the 11 Pro. As you can see, the colors are extremely similar, with a very slight lightening of last years shade. If you liked Space Grey on the 11 Pro, it seems safe to say you’ll like it on the 12 Pro.

Gold

Gold is still Gold for the Pro 12, but the ‘Rose Gold’ obsession of the past few years has given way to a much lighter and yellower casing.

Especially impactful is the new shiny bezel. On the Gold version, the stainless-steel really seems to pop, and unlike the other colors, the bezel highly contrasts with the matte-glass backing. It’s certainly unique, but be sure to check out other angles of this version before buying.

Pacific Blue

What good is a new iPhone release without a new ‘signature’ color? Right? Right? Either nobody liked the moss/puke/midnight Green of the 11 Pro, or it was simply time for something new. Either way, the Pacific Blue version of the Pro 12 is fantastic. Unlike the Gold option, it’s subdued enough not to turn heads, but it still has a little flair. It’s a fantastic new option, and Pacific Blue is a welcome change from last years signature color.

Conclusion

Hopefully, comparing the new 12 Pro to last years options makes this decision a bit easier, especially as the 12 Pro model is not currently available in stores. It’s important to consider the new bezel when choosing a color, but as with any new iPhone, you really can’t go wrong. Regardless of your choice, the 12 Pro is a unique and revolutionary device, and October 23rd can’t come soon enough!
