‘Call Me The Moon’: The new album from Mark L. Oakes

If you like your music with a distinct American road trip edge to it, then Mark L. Oakes is the man for you.
Championing a folk-esque americana sound with beautiful harmonies and instrumentation, Mark is a supremely talented muscian whose quality is reflected in his songwriting.
When you take your influences from the likes of Neil Young, Ryan Adams and Tom Petty, then you’re sure to pick up some good stuff, but Mark goes one step more. He blends elements of all these artists whilst still maintaining his own musical identity.
As well as this, there is a definite easy listening nature to Mark’s music, a relaxing feeling that is embellished by his trademark husky vocals.

Mark’s new album ‘Call Me The Moon’ encapsulates all of this, whilst also feeling appropriate as the ideal soundtrack for a ‘karmic road trip’, as Mark notes himself. While singles ‘Shredded Jeans’ and ‘Friend From Above (Sleepless Spouse)’ are tinged with soft melancholy, tunes like ‘Aloof Again’ and ‘None Of These Roads’ will lead you straight to a risky, bitter ground.
Travelling between Europe and the United States with a bag full of projects, Mark sees ‘Call Me The Moon’ as the silver thread out of the vague existential maze.
‘Call Me The Moon’ was recorded mainly in Mark’s home studio in the Ardennes with the help of cellist, Ben Trigg, and grammy award winner, Gavin Lurssen, who mastered the album.
