Gamification and Fossil Angels

Most of the magick orders and systems belongs to a pre-internet times where the access to the information was the key for any learning process. This means that most of the rules and procedures are for a world where printing and writing was an expensive and time consuming. Right now you can get all kind of information, even the most rare grimoires.

The entertainment we choose molds our minds. the addictive process of games where you have lot of little tasks and then hit a big boss is what most people understand as an evolution process. This push us to follow little steps and claim for the next level once we have hit the big Boss. This gamification and live based on apps and little endorphin pushes takes our control of focus on really long term planning and vision.

I recover a wonderful edition of the Alan Moore Fossil Angels. Its a discussion on how to adapt and inflate life into the old grimoires and the classical XIX and XX century magick. It push for a postmodern approach where we should face it as an artistic process instead of a scientific process.

I fully agree on this. We must get our minds outside the trick of gamificate our lives and live them in a fully artistic way (and probably go back to Greek-Egipt neoplatonism roots).
