Apple just announced their new iPhone models at 10am PDT, October 13. The release was made through a virtual streaming because of the pandemic. It has been a weird time for everyone around the world, but the restriction of physical activities might just have boosted people’s expectation for the new iPhone 12. Can it upgrade the second reality that we all need at this time more than ever? Will Apple present any other surprise? Here are the answers.

iPhone 12

Here it is, finally. Apple announced two sizes for the new model, 6.1” for the regular iPhone 12 and 5.4” for the iPhone 12 mini. Both features the company’s Super Retina XDR display. All 12th generation models come with a brand new ceramic shield that has four times better drop performance. The camera is also upgraded and now you can record 4K HDR videos with Dolby Vision. While you might have only seen this term in those fancy new movie theaters before, now you can basically own a professional film studio just on your phone.

iPhone 12 Pro

Just like the previous launch, this time iPhone 12 also has a Pro and a Pro max version, both feature a bigger screen than their 11th siblings. The looking of the camera system is certainly familiar, but the function has been updated with the new 7-element Wide lens. It also includes LiDAR that delivers up to 6 times faster autofocus in low light, taking the camera’s night mode to a whole new level.

iPhone 12 Por and MagSafe accessories

Both 12 and 12 Pro models have Apple’s new A14 bionic chip, which is the first 5-nanometer chip in the industry and should be “generations ahead of any other smartphone chips.” It allows faster speed, a better battery life and supports other professional activities such as Dolby Vision recording. The new iPhones will support 5G network, be wirelessly chargeable, and will come with new MagSafe accessories, including new cases and wallets that only need a simple click to install.

HomePod mini

Apple has also launched a mini version of their Bluetooth speaker, HomePod. Although the size is now smaller, all functions are still there and it can deliver 360-degree audio just like the regular size HomePod.

“It’s a leap year.”

iPhone 12 Pro

The pun that Apple and we both love shows up on the iPhone Pro webpage, and we have to admit, it certainly is a leap this year, not just for Pro and ProMax, but also for the regular models. With the new A14 chip, supporting for 5G and the upgraded camera systems, once again we can start to imagine the possibilities that come with this compact device called smartphone.
