Accounting profession calls on political elite to act now for a sustainable future.

On 7 December, the UN COP 21 Climate Change talks will kick off in Paris. Ahead of the meeting, ACCA has joined with a host of other accounting bodies to call on political leaders to demonstrate the political will to achieve a low carbon, sustainable future.

The accountancy bodies represent a combined total of one million members worldwide. In the spirit of leading the way, they have committed to a set of principles that support action to address climate change.

Firstly, to equip accountants with the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to respond to climate change through training and professional education, driving thought leadership, and working with others to accelerate learning.

Secondly to influence and inform our membership to understand the implications of climate change, and how approaches such as the adoption of integrated reporting can support an effective response.
