From MARCH 4 through APRIL 14 2017, the planet Venus will be retrograde from 13˚Aries to 26˚Pisces. The retrograde motion is a not real but when Venus appears to move backwards in the sky from the perspective from earth. Around every 18 months, when Venus moves approximately 29 degrees ahead of the Sun, it will appear to move backwards in the sky until it reaches a point approximately 21 to 29 degrees behind the Sun. She does so for approximately 40 days and 40 nights.

Venus rules both Taurus and Libra. Taurus is your values, what you value, self esteem, the practical, movable belongings. Libra is diplomacy, romance, personal relationships, co-operation, social justice and beauty. Venus is also artistic energy. Venus retrogrades follow an 8 year cycle, so the last time she was retrograde in Aries was back on 2008 when she was retrograde from 15˚ Aries to 29˚ Pisces. Notice how the retrograde is moving backwards through the zodiac.

What happened in your life then? How did your life change direction? Aries and Pisces are the first and last signs of the zodiac, so we have endings and beginnings.

It’s clear that the ancients were astrologers because Venus was also known as Innana/Ishtar, amongst other names. And the retrograde journey, at a soul level, is one of spiritual initiation. For the sake of brevity you can read the story of Innana’s Descent here.

Also the retrograde is around 40 days and 40 nights and I speak about the biblical references to this at this link for my Venus Retrograde Heroine’s Journey class. 40 Days (or months) was always a test. A test of spiritual strength. A soul test. Are you ready for your test?

There are simple things that you can do to make this journey more beneficial.

  1. Don’t fight the need to go within and get in touch with your deepest needs. All retrogrades are a time for slowing down and reflection. If you don’t heed this advice then you may get side swiped by something that forces you to reflect.
  2. Reflect on the people and belongings in your life and what has real value for you. Often people and belongings come into your life for a season. When either you or the other person shifts or grows, then it can be time to let go.
  3. Then hold back. Do not act on these reflections until the retrograde is over. If you act rashly you may find that you have made a mistake.
  4. Look for people and situations from the past showing up. When they do it’s always a lesson that was not learned the first time around.
  5. Reflect on your core values around money and other material belongings. The Venus Retrograde is really one of spiritual initiation where you take a good hard and long look at what really has meaning in your life.
  6. Remember always that Venus IS love but love is more than your partner in marriage or life. This is also adult children, people you work with, good friends, money, how you love yourself and more.
  7. To really make the most of the retrograde get support! I am running a class that will now only explain the astrology in words but where you will also get to EXPERIENCE the energy of Venus/Innana at a deep level. As a Shamanic Practitioner and Astrologer I will be guiding you through a heroine’s journey to re-member your deepest soul. I hope you’ll join the Venus Retrograde Heroine’s Journey. The community is growing daily and we are preparing NOW.

The Chandra symbol for the start of this retrograde is:

An apple tree — many rotten apples on the ground around it.
Profligate and prodigal, you are fertile, creative, dynamic. Full of bright ideas. Resourceful and ingenious. Carefree and careless, you concentrate on the spark of the now. Tunnel vision. Your talents and abilities extravagantly displayed. A special knack for individual genius — eccentric and a real character. Ornery. Not really listening. Self-impelled. Tuned in to interests and capacities, tuned out to everything else. You are going forward regardless: “Gotta get there,” but the blind spots add up. Reckonings and conflicts. Confronted with what has been denied. Wildly unrepentant. You are the hardest one to convince, yet the one who knew it all along. The advantages and the disadvantages of taking a special angle and following it all the way no matter what.

This symbol is reminiscent of Eve and the apple. Or Eris and the apple, who threw an apple into a party she wasn’t invited too to disrupt the party and to highlight the vanity and shallowness of the party goers.

Are you ready to disrupt the status quo by taking this journey of re-membering? Are you ready to re-member that the cracks are where the light gets in?

Are you ready to take a huge spiritual leap?
