Can I Play, Too?

Please don’t lock me out
because I don’t look like you.
Can I join your game?

In my special place,
I will create room for you.
Join me and we’ll play.

We may look different,
But all ache, dream, try our best.
Will you be my friend?

In a far-off city, they have created their own sacred place, a marvel of welcoming, challenging, and cherishing one another.

Also an enthusiastic participant in the art, serious student, and happy person who shows up on time and gives her all, I’d like to join them.

But they won’t let me.

I don’t fit what they expect, what they need one another to be.

Too bad for them.

I am one incredible, bright and blithe spirit.

I’ll take my magic to another playground.
