What the Current MCU Can Learn from Transformers: The Movie (1986)

I was over the Bayformers’ largely grey hues, overly complicated designs, and human-centered tomfoolery by the second film. As with the recent TMNT films, the silver lining has always the attention given to the earlier material in media outside the theaters.
As a kid, “Octopus Prime” in his final battle with Megatron was like Superman/Doomsday plus Sherlock/Moriarty. The intent may have been to sell new toys but Optimus’s demise and Megatron’s transformation were really bold steps considering these guys were truly “at the top of their game” when the movie came out unlike Serenity or Star Trek: TMP.
Megatron is the first villain I can remember who made white look so wicked. Well, him and the guy Rutger Hauer squared off with in Ladyhawke.
