Again for the slow, Comey was not conducting an investigation, he did not even direct one to be conducted, those decisions are made by professional career investigators, not the FBI Director.

The Director most likely has never even spoken directly to a single investigator on this case, he has teams of management who deal with the day-to-day operations of the FBI.

So the investigation will continue without any change, and at this point after several months of intense investigation they have most likely already found anything of substance that actually exists. Firing Comey could not possibly have any effect at all on the investigation.
