Okay, so based on the tiny amount of actual fact available, there was nothing Flynn did that was actually illegal. There is no law against someone discussing sanctions or any other topic with Russia, it is not like Flynn could write laws or policy himself, especially at that point, it was at worse a theoretical discussion but certainly not illegal.

But, to record an American’s conversation without a warrant and to then release that private conversation to the public is in fact a criminal offense.

The media has spent a lot of time attacking Trump for not trusting the intelligence community, but how can he trust the intelligence community when it is openly and actively recording calls to release them for political reasons?
