That copy/pasted comment did not address population issues at all, you were discussing consumption not population controls.

The simple fact is, if we do not enact severe and strong population increase limits, n o other conservation measures can have any positive effect. No population controls, no point in anything else.

As far as replacing what people find desirable, again you need to explain how this is possible, just wishing it will not make it so, it is actually pretty normal to “packrat” to a certain degree. Gathering and collecting just in case is part of the human nature, don’t even try to claim that you have a deep and desperate need (as in will die without it) for every item you own because we both know you have things you do not need.
