This creates an awkward dynamic for Republicans who asserted back in 2009 and 2010 that months of open congressional hearings and floor debate about the ACA weren’t enough.

The political times have changed and Democrats have made it very clear they do not care what Republicans write up, they will openly oppose it so why waste time dancing to the tune of the party of “NO”? This is what happens when the Democratic party has decided they want no part of trying to deal with the Obamacare problem they created without any input from Republicans.

Yes, Democrats held hearings, and not 1 thing of substance was ever changed in the Bill after those hearings so clearly they were for appearances only. Yes, Republicans were allowed a couple insignificant amendments, mostly administrative adjustments, but not 1 Republican amendment of substance was allowed.
