Well that is what they put on paper sure, but nobody actually pays that much. If you have insurance they pay the lower negotiated costs based on the network and if you are paying cash you will not pay anywhere near what insurance pays.

True story, my best friend was between insurance policies and broke his collar bone, being stupid on his dirt bike. His xrays were originally billed to his insurance that had lapsed so he got a bill for over $3,000. When he went there and told them he had to pay out of pocket because he did not have insurance they charged him $250 and that was it.
