Are You Alive

It’s a simple question yet often we don’t even know if we are living or just pretending to live. We only get one lifetime so that means we must choose to live it to the fullest.

It’s easy to skate by, not take chances or let time pass you by.

It’s easy to get sucked in by the not-so-important factors…

It’s easy to hold things in and not try, not speak up, not start.

It’s easy to believe that the status-quo is the only safe/sane option. or to believe that the “American Dream” is and should be one size fits all.

It’s easy to not try.

Ask yourself though, is it really easier?

“A lifetime isn’t forever, so take the first chance, don’t wait for the second one! Because sometimes, there aren’t second chances! And if it turns out to be a mistake? So what! This is life! A whole bunch of mistakes! But if you never get a second chance at something you didn’t take a first chance at? That’s true failure.” ― C. JoyBell C.

Not to be morbid but if you were on your deathbed would you look back and say “Damn that was one thrilling journey — every single day/minute/hour was worth it!” It’s worth a thought.

As C. JoyBell writes in the above mentioned quote, “So what! This is life! A whole bunch of mistakes!” I’m still young and truth be told I’ve made TONS of mistakes (who hasn’t) but I’ve learned from every single one. I’ve probably grown and learned more in the last two years than in my entire life just because I’ve been trying, speaking up, and doing more than ever. I certainly am glad that I’ve learned to start living now even if that means failure or mistakes. At least I attempted right? To me that’s so much more valuable than not trying.

There is so much to be done, seen, experienced in this world. There is so much more than worrying about what others may or may not think of you or what happens if things don’t go accordingly or if you actually don’t want what others think you should…

We experiment, we fail, we attempt but my god do we learn.

That’s life. That’s living life fully in my eyes. At the end of the day if you go to sleep feeling fully pleased sans regret that’s what counts. Not so much what others may or may not think of you, if what you wrote didn’t get any comments or likes, or if you pissed someone off or pushed a few people’s buttons.

If you feel full that’s what counts. If you fail so what? You learned. You grew.

“Learn to enjoy every minute of your life. Be happy now. Don’t wait for something outside of yourself to make you happy in the future. Think how really precious is the time you have to spend, whether it’s at work or with your family. Every minute should be enjoyed and savored.” -Earl Nightingale

Life is full of lessons. Victories + Failures alike. The important thing is that you gave it a go, you spoke your mind, you pushed til you didn’t have any breath left. Life is so much more than the fear or worries. Life is so much more than “status symbols” or material goods or followers/subscribers. There’s oceans to swim in, roads + paths to be walked down, conversations/debates/heart to hearts to be had and hugs to be given. There is a lot to do and a lot to see.

Go on, begin. If you fall on your face it’s about how you pick yourself up and dust yourself off. Let yourself fall. It’s being alive.

Hit that little green heart, if you dig this.
