I can definitely relate to this article. I am a minority (black) and chemistry major, but I am only an undergraduate with previous laboratory experience(more than most of the students applying for the same jobs). Though, when searching for labs it seems to become difficult after the interviewing process. If I check back with the interviewer, they lack the courage to even tell me that they aren’t even considering to hire me.
As you have said, minorities exist in STEM in larger amounts that aren’t always reported. The numbers continue to increase throughout the years, but I agree with you that the jobs are the biggest problems with minorities in STEM.
