Summer Synod Youth Opportunities

Before heading out of town, I wanted to make sure you all saw three great opportunities for your high school students!!!!!! This is one of the great strengths of our synod — tremendous opportunities to support the young people of your congregations.

1) Have them apply to become part of the Lutheran Youth Organization. This year-round, fifty-member leadership development program challenges students to deepen their faith, expand their skills, and grow in their leadership ability and confidence. It’s a team-based approach emphasizing individual mentoring, group training, and an experience-based model of leadership development. You can find out more information here: http://www.demdsynod.org/youth-leadership-organization.html

Applications for the next year (anyone who will be in high school this September) are being accepted through July 1st. Those applications are available at that website.

2) The High School Leadership Event is taking place from June 17–19 at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg. We gather at the Seminary from Friday evening through noon on Sunday. Registration and more information are available on our website — a cost of $85. This is a fantastic and intimate event, and is a great opportunity for you to have fun, explore their gifts, reflect on their faith, and get to know other youth from around the synod. This event is totally planned and implemented by the graduating seniors of the Lutheran Youth Organization. Find our more information here: http://www.demdsynod.org/annual-high-school-leadership-even…

3) Senior High Camp at Mar Lu Ridge: Come enjoy a great week of adventure, worship, and tons of fun with other high school students. Christine and I will be chaplains for the week. The camp runs June 26 through July 1st. You can find more information and register online here: http://www.mar-lu-ridge.org/camp/
