Moving day should be exciting, not dreaded. Here’s some tips to make sure your moving day goes smoothly.

Bryan Moffat from SOS Removals shared his top tips with us on how to make your move as stress-free as possible.

The Australian Furniture Removers Association (AFRA) is an official body of removals experts that helps regulate the removals industry.

AFRA accredits only those furniture removalists that have the necessary equipment, vehicles, premises and staff training needed to complete a professional move. When choosing a removalist we recommend selecting an AFRA member to ensure a certain quality of work whilst they are responsible for moving all of your belongings.

Using proper packaging can make a big difference not only to keep your belongings safe, but it also allows your revivalists to pack the truck more efficiently. Strong boxes may seem expense but when you think about what they are protecting, it is worth doing it properly. If you are looking to buy boxes but don’t want to pay for new ones, try posting on your local facebook community group or page to ask if anyone has any packing boxes they’d like to give away or sell for a small fee.

In the lead up to moving day, start collecting newspapers and packaging from any deliveries you may have and if you need to, purchase a big roll of bubble wrap to protect your fragile items.

Most importantly, invest in a couple of permanent markers to label each box with the room it’s going to at your new home so that when unloading the truck the boxes can be taken straight to their final destination.

In many cases, families will be moving out of their old home and into their new home on the same day, this generally revolves around the time of the properties settling. After settlement you will then get the keys to your new home and can start unloading.

When getting ready and planning your move, it’s always best to speak to professionals who have experience and know the most efficient ways. If you would like any more information or tips, feel free to chat to our team.
