CEMEX USA Gifts $75k to LSSC, totaling over $225k

LEESBURG, Fla. (January 25, 2017) — Lake-Sumter State College and the LSSC Foundation, Inc. are pleased to announce a third gift from CEMEX USA for $75,000 in support of students enrolled in the College’s Engineering Technology program.

The AS in Engineering Technology degree, offered in Sumterville, prepares students to work in high-demand technology industries. The two-year program offers one year of courses plus industry certification with a second year in a technical specialization.

“When it comes to CEMEX philanthropy, education takes precedent,” says Travis Wellman, vice president of operations, Florida aggregates for CEMEX. “Therefore, partnering with and contributing to Lake-Sumter State College has been a win-win for all of us. The College can continue to grow and meet the educational needs of their community, students can earn a quality education right in their backyard, and CEMEX along with other businesses can have access to a high caliber workforce.”
