LSSC Celebrates 469 Graduates at Fall 2016 Commencement

Lake-Sumter State College hosted its 55th Commencement Ceremony on December 13, 2016, at 6pm at the Everett A. Kelly Convocation Center on the Leesburg Campus. The ceremony honored 469 graduates this fall semester, including 19 baccalaureate graduates with the Bachelors of Applied Science in Organizational Management degree.

The second occurrence of a fall commencement at LSSC. Commencement was previously an annual event, but a biannual schedule was adopted in order to create a timely celebration of degree completion. This also marks LSSC President Sidor’s second commencement.

Encore presentations of this ceremony will be shown on Lake Sumter TV (LSTV) on Friday, Dec. 16 at 6:30pm, Saturday Dec. 17 at 6pm and Sunday, Dec. 18 at 9am. Student Speaker Bios

Student Invocation Speaker — Ms. Rachel Ilardi

Rachel Ilardi began her experience with Lake-Sumter State College as a dual enrollment student on the South Lake Campus and is now a full-time student pursuing an Associate in Arts degree. Rachel plans to continue to the University of Central Florida to study Public Relations and Advertising. Rachel found her passion for community service through organizing several successful events for non-profits, including the Lovely Project and the Sunshine Foundation. Rachel plans to work as a fundraising or development manager after receiving her degrees.

Student Commencement Speaker — Ms. Dejah-Thoris Anselmo

Dejah-Thoris Anselmo of Eustis and a Florida Virtual School graduate is graduating from Lake-Sumter State College with her Associate in Arts. Dejah-Thoris will be signing a six-year contract with the U.S. Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller. During her service, she will continue her education by pursuing a degree in Biochemistry. She is a proud member of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society and hopes to become an Orthodontist in the future.
