“…U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-TN) said that he expects the new law to usher in an age of innovation and excellence.” If schools are focused on “teaching to the test,” I fear that it won’t happen. If we can teach students to think critically and deeply, good test scores are likely to follow. Somehow, we need to get the balance between accountability and acquisition of 21st century skills right.
