Join the Yogi Movement
Yogi Movement is a Santa Barbara based organization started by two lovely Yoginis, Isa Oestman Olai and Marta Waldrop Bergman. Yogi Movement’s mission is to educate girls in India, through donation based yoga around our beautiful city. To spread its mission, the two founders participated in a sunset photo shoot on East Beach.

A common gesture (mudra) in the yoga tradition is the Gyan Mudra. It is said to increase the air element with the body, boost enthusiasm, initiativeness and creative thinking as well as enhance cognitive process and memory.

Marta is in charge of finding sponsors like Mamma Chia to Yogi Movement’s events. As one of the founders of the organization, she plays a vital role in bringing people together to support its mission.

The founders work closely together to find innovative ways to connect the Santa Barbara community.

According to Yogawiz.com, the prayer pose “aligns and strengthens the upper body, while getting rid of tension and improving blood circulation to the shoulder joint. It is also effective in strengthening the lumbar and abdominal region as you try and form a base.”

Ever since Isa volunteered in India a few years ago, she’s felt the need to do something to improve the equality in the country with 1.3 billion people. It’s not an easy task, but Isa wanted to start somewhere — In March, Yogi Movement was born.

The ladies have known each other for three years and have always shared their philanthropic visions behind closed doors. This is the first time the pair is professionally working together for a greater good.

As the sun sets, it’s time for the founders to get back to work. Their next event will be held Sunday May 7th, right here on East Beach in Santa Barbara.
