A matter of who and a matter of when:

The firecracker snap in a nothingness day.

This has happened before and will happen again.

The first one to hear the shots, shouting, and din,

The first one to scream and the first one to pray:

A matter of who and a matter of when.

A child’s ankle turns in the rush and the wind;

A grandmother stumbles behind a display:

This has happened before and will happen again.

Hours pressed to the floor in a piled makeshift den;

Flesh aches, snaps, and gurgles, and will not obey:

A matter of who and a matter of when.

Invaders. Hispanics. Sharia. Free Men.

White Genocide. Trump. Send Her Back. USA.

This has happened before and will happen again.

The President, gifted this slaughter, will say

What he will; we will scrub at the blood of our sin.

A matter of who and a matter of when:

This has happened before and will happen again.
