Thanks Pieter. It’s really great to get this kind of information and feedback to the community.
Many of us were rather put out by the experience of the last event — it seemed to go against the values this project claims to have been created to support. I genuinely believe grassroots DIY science has an important role to play in democratising science and building a fairer, more equitable society. But it’s hard to grow the movement without support. Even harder when large institution-led initiatives that claim to represent it don’t seem to be listening. But I genuinely hope things can get better, that DITOs will really work to advocate for supporting grassroots DIY science, and that the wider community can get back on board. If so I’ll gladly support that where I can. Thanks again.
