Luan Learns Things! Episode 1

Hey folks! This post is the first in a series I’m writing as I take on a new challenge. Starting tomorrow I’ll be learning to code at a 3-month boot camp at Maker’s Academy. This blog will be a place for me to review what I’ve learnt each day, and to talk through any problems I’ve come across. I’ve been obsessed with learning new skills for as long as I can remember, and as a result I’ve paid a lot of attention to what works best for me and how to learn something as quickly as possible. With that in mind, I’ll be using this as a place to work through any insights I have about meta-learning and talking through any tricks I’m using to pick up this skill as fast as possible.

Using the next 3 months as an opportunity to push myself, I’ll also be taking on 2 other challenges. The first of these is the Wim Hoff 10-week challenge, which I’ll be posting more about later on. The challenge consists of daily breath-work and meditation exercises, along with cold exposure challenges progressing from cold showers to ice baths. During the final year of my degree I found that having a cold shower in the morning put me in an unstoppable mood, and so this seems like a perfect opportunity to me.

The final challenge will be to busk for 30mins a day, somewhere on the streets of London. I want to feel more comfortable performing in front of people, since it’s something I’m passionate about. I’m also deliberately doing this without much practice beforehand so that I can learn to deal with embarrassment and be ok with feeling unprepared.
