Bing is the second-most popular search engine in Canada as of July 2017. Released by Microsoft in 2009, it makes up about 17% of the Canadian market share and 33% of the USA’s. Here are 5 small tweeks that you can make to your search Bing in order to see the most relevant results.

  1. A basic search technique is to put quotation marks around whatever you type in the search bar. Let’s say that you want to find out the how much of the market Bing holds in Canada. Type in “Bing market share Canada”.
  2. Use Boolean algebra (such as AND, OR, NOT, etc.) in your query. Better yet, you can combine tip #2 with the previous one to get a more refined result by typing “Bing market share” AND Canada.
  3. Another method of generating search results for a specific topic but not necessarily a certain phrase is to use the search term allintext: prior to typing your query. For example, allintext: Bing market share.

4. To retrieve search results from a specific website, type site:statista.com Bing market share.

Figure 3: Tip #4 only returns results from the specified website.

Apart from the quick answer box at the top of the results page, Bing only generates search results from statista.com with this method.

5. If you want to find a something similar, use the term related: before your query.

These are just 5 tips which you can use to optimize the search results you generate in Bing.
