Digital, Marketing and Data: three months in.

Time flies and this week marks three months since I joined Contactlab to build and bring to market new data-driven products. With the summertime and less meetings reclaiming space in my calendar, I can write a few words on the journey so far.

Across the board, I’ve been welcomed by many supportive people. Mentioning everybody by name is impossible, but I cannot avoid highlighting Massimo Fubini, CEO and Founder, who constantly inspires people with his data-driven vision. His direct and honest approach is disarming and customers and employees appreciate it. He’s the very reason why this company exist and is on track to grow even further.

Davide Migliavacca, CTO, is also worth mentioning. He’s the experienced and trustworthy peer you can always count on. His pragmatic approach is what keeps me grounded and helps me navigate complexity.

I’m also working with a fantastic team: Federica, Francesca, Daniele and Andrea. Your support is what reassures me we can deliver our promise to the company. Truth be told, the entire organization is up to the challenge and ready to go and move to the next stage.

There’s still a lot to do…

I’ve particularly enjoyed speaking with tens of customers and my key takeaway is that there’s still plenty than needs to be done. From multi-billion-dollars companies to boutique brands we’re far from understanding the customer journey, interpreting data and behavior and using it to make every interaction personal.

A tweep (@JasonRThomas) once said: “#data is the marketers best friend /& worst enemy”.

The Marketing Technology ecosystem is still very fragmented and confusing and the sprawl of different vendors is not helping customers. Different products mean multiple data silos that are not talking to each other.

Our answer to that is an open and extensible Marketing Data Science Cloud where we marry technology and talents to accelerate time to market.

Putting data analysts, scientists, researchers, product owners, developers and cutting edge technologies all under the same roof is starting to pay off, for us and our customers. Navigating through marketing data is demanding and clients appreciate an helping hand to make sense of it.

I’m humbled by the opportunity to explore uncharted new territories at Contactlab. True, this is just the beginning, but the best one I could ever imagine.
