We are building Stories One
We believe the greatest friendships are made through memorable shared moments of life. These unique moments that you lived together, generated emotions and built a timeless bond between you. They are what comes out when you look back on what you shared with someone.
Sometimes even stressful moments can eventually become great memories. In fact, one of my best holiday memories was when my associate Arthur and I went to a hiking trail in Yosemite and got lost in the middle of the forest at night. Without being aware of it, we were giving shape to something that we will forever share and remember: a story.
These stories have the power of building friendships, groups and even communities. They are the energy that makes them strong, evolve and live for a long time. A shared-adventure is worth more than thousands of words. Text-messages, audio or video calls are great to catch up with friends, meet new ones and hang out but how many of these discussions will we eventually remember? How often do you say “remember how awesome it was when we talked two years ago on WhatsApp about [subject]?”.
Games have the amazing capacity that very few other mediums have to make you actively live Adventures through your character. Ask a gamer to tell you some of their favorite multiplayer game moments and you’ll see how real and strong these can be. They can be genuinely immersive, sensorial and social. Games can achieve way more than just entertainment; they can create healthy, sustainable relationships and exciting memories.
Over the past couple of years Arthur Pernot, Bruno Grégoire and I gathered a team of brilliant & passionate people, surrounded ourselves with expert advisors from AAA games, made virtual world experiments and started working on a game that will bring people together in a whole new way.
Our game is called Stories One and it is a Community-Shaped Adventure Game.
In Stories One, players are gathered within a persistent small community of players and experience live exciting adventures. Within the set-up of a small American town in the 80s, players as high-schoolers investigate, team-up and act to build the story of their own community. They will be living the future of TV-Shows: they won’t watch it; they will be together part of it.
Stories One isn’t about meeting millions of other players nor exploring millions of different worlds, nor building your own worlds or games. It’s about belonging to One world, One community and do what everyone can and does great: shaping stories.
