Dear Camden,

Today I rode from my office to meet someone in Brock Street, near Euston. I took part of a route I take once a week, to read at one of your schools — Edith Neville Primary — just beside St. Pancras.

I’m writing this to tell you just how much the changes to Tavistock Place rock, and make me feel welcome as a cyclist.

I ride a bike because it’s convenient, and I want to see more people in London be able to make that choice. When I ride into Camden’s part of town, it’s usually pretty obvious, because — disjointed as it is — I keep seeing lots of attempts to make it nicer to be on a bike.

This week, the thing I noticed was that even with the schools, Camden is trying to make riding easier, with simple initiatives like this one:

I understand you’re getting some grief over the Tavistock Place changes, and indeed over your general approach, so I just wanted, in my official capacity as bloke who rides a bike for utility and convenience, to applaud you and say “Keep doing what you’re doing”.

Yours,

Tim Lennon.
