Patreon is Ignoring Their Users, Claiming “Suspicious Activity”

Patreon is a platform made for people, such as artists, to get support from their fans by having their fans donate funds to them to help keep them afloat. However, over the past week or so, many accounts have been mysteriously marked as “suspicious activity” and Patreon is refusing to release their funds.

In fact, Patreon is flat out ignoring any comment about this issue at all. Dozens of creators have complained, and Patreon has not sent out any emails explaining anything for over a week, nor are they responding to people on social media about this topic.

This is just a fraction of the messages mentioned on Twitter over the past week, and I haven’t even checked other platforms. This does not seem to be the first time this has happened either, and seems to be affecting content creators of all kinds. Here is one post recently by someone on Reddit.

So why is it that Patreon is being silent about this? They mention nothing on their main Twitter or their support Twitter. They do not talk about it on their main site, or any of their other social media sites. They have also yet to explain anything to any of their creators in emails either.

A good company would not treat their own creators this way. They would not hold money for over a week without even explaining why.

So if you want to find a new platform for this kind of thing, check out:

This is just a couple of the sites that you can find that competes with a company that isn’t responding to their own creators.

For a creator, money is vital. Let’s make sure that the money gets into the right hands.
